I know my response to last week’s photo challenge was far from pretty. But I appreciated the comments I received and I was grateful for everyone who encouraged me to continue to share the truth of my story.
Cheri Lucas Rowlands of The Daily Post posed the theme “Fleeting” for the current Weekly Photo Challenge. Naturally, my thoughts turned to the fleeting nature of life itself. I got to thinking about how we are on this earth only briefly, and of how we have such a limited time before our bodies turn to dust and the memories we spent a lifetime making soon begin to fade.
So for the challenge this week I’ve decided to tackle the fleeting nature of life. But to make it far less morose, I am going to focus on childhood and how quickly those precious years pass. I say “far less” because I am still going to sprinkle a few cancer-y photos in the mix.
As always, thank you for visiting. And if you’d like to participate in the challenge, just click here.

One of my most favourite quotes is by Rabindranath Tagore. I think you will like it too!

we meet eternity in every second.”

The ultrasound photo tugged on my heartstrings! That’s truly where ALL the beauty begins. 🙂

So true — it’s such an amazing moment to see them for the very first time. Though the first time we saw them — in the hospital E.R. — my husband freaked out and nearly passed out! It certainly made for a memorable day, Lol! 😉
How are you feeling?

I can’t believe your husband got spooked and passed out! Thank God men don’t have to carry babies. The population would be dwindling! 😉 As for me, I’m feeling good, thanks for asking. I’m in my 2nd trimester so I have lots of energy!

Lol! So glad you are past the first trimester and have energy! I hope you can enjoy the warm summer days ahead and that you continue to feel good! xx

Sweet post and so true! My daughter just celebrated her 11th birthday last week, and I still find it hard to believe. I clearly remembering framing her little ultrasound pics (we had several because I had gestational diabetes) and placing each one in her nursery as we awaited her arrival. Thank you for sharing this post!

It’s amazing how quickly the time passes! Especially when you look back at the ultrasound photos and can remember how little they were not so long ago!
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment! 🙂

My favourite is the last photo – all three of you relishing the view, together in front of the horizon. That big world out there that they are discovering day by day. Silly question, but do you guys have chickens???

Thank you! 😉 I remember that we were freezing that day, but in that moment we forgot about how cold we were and just enjoyed the beauty of the sea and the sky. I loved the sentence about them discovering the world day by day. We do not have chickens… My sister does — and one of my close friends. But not us. Why do you ask?

I asked because there are chicks (or a chick and an onjured bird?)in two of the photos, so I wondered of you had chickens outside. I have a very vivid imaginiation, you know… 🙂

You are so observant! I didn’t make the connection until I read your comment — and I posted the photos, Lol!
The baby chicks were my sisters. She brought them over so we could play with them. And the injured bird was a baby starling we called Nymark (after our old street). I found his nest overturned on our back patio and he was the only one still breathing. He was featherless and hadn’t opened his eyes yet and appeared to be bleeding through his thin skin. But the boys and I looked after him and dropperfed him and grew quite attached to him. But I think his injuries were just too great and he didn’t make it. But the boys still remember him and it was lovely to have him for that little bit of time.
Wow, I haven’t told that story in a long time — I guess I got carried away. That was probably more than you wanted to know!
Thanks so much for always taking the time to visit and comment (and for allowing me my longwinded explanations!) 😉
